This copper carbonate mineral displays a gorgeous variation in color, ranging from vibrant green hues to blue. This color differentiation is due to the different ratios of copper to carbon throughout the mineral.

Chrysocolla grows as a secondary mineral, forming in the oxidation zones of copper ore deposits through a process called alteration, or the oxidation of azurite and malachite. This mineral is associated with emotional healing, communication, and empowerment.

This piece was sourced in the Lupoto Mine in Kakumba, Kipushi, Haut-Katanga, the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
