This is a gorgeous thumbnail Bicolored Tourmaline with a green terminated tip and a reddish-pink base. It was mined from the famous Barra do Salina, Minas Gerais, Brazil which is known for spectacular multicolored specimen. Tourmaline is a boron silicate mineral that appears in a variety of different colors due to elements that are present during the formation of the crystal, such as lithium, iron, or chromium. It's color can be influenced by man with irradiation or heat treatment, but this specimen is completely natural.
