Amethyst Scepter Mineral Thumbnail Specimen from Calipuy Mine, Peru

Regular price $25.00

This is an amethyst scepter thumbnail specimen from Calipuy Mine, La Libertad Department, Peru. This locale is known for very distinct amethyst scepter specimens, with translucent light purple terminated tips and opaque white quartz bodies. Amethyst is a form of quartz that gets its color from naturally irradiated iron ions, and has been a valued gem for decoration and collection since prehistoric times. Scepter specimens occur when a change in the growth habit happens during the crystal's formation. This specimen also features a small white quartz crystal growing from the bottom of the larger amethyst scepter.

This specimen is approximately 16mm x 6mm x 6mm. You will also receive a complimentary 'perky' display box and a label card with the mineral name and the locale where it was mined.
