This is an amethyst scepter thumbnail specimen from Purple Hope Claim #4, Green Ridge, King County, Washington. This specimen has an undamaged termination and a very faint purple coloration on the end of the sceptered body of the crystal. It has an almost water-clear translucency in some places, and the surface has a glassy luster. Amethyst is a form of quartz that gets its color from naturally irradiated iron ions, and has been a valued gem for decoration and collection since prehistoric times. Scepter specimens occur when a change in the growth habit happens during the crystal's formation.
This specimen is approximately 30mm x 12mm x 13mm. You will also receive a complimentary 'perky' display box and a label card with the mineral name and the locale where it was mined.
