This variety of beryl forms when hot magma comes into contact with sedimentary rocks, or when hot liquids escape from deeper magma, a process called contact metamorphism. The varying presence of chromium, vanadium, and iron within the beryl are responsible for emerald's ranging color. The intense green seen in this specimen comes from chromium and vanadium content within the mineral.

This gorgeous emerald was sourced from Muzo Mine in Boyacá, Colombia. It features a 1 1/8" crystal that is sure to complement any collection.
