Vanadinite consists of a combination of lead, vanadium, oxygen and chlorine. Its striking red-orange coloration and hexagonal system catch light and the eye, making the perfect addition to a mineral collection.

This uncommon mineral forms when lead ore deposits are oxidized, releasing vanadium which then bounds with the other components. This dense, brittle mineral is ranked as a 3 on the Mohs scale.
