High grade emerald from the Muzo Mine in Colombia. Emerald is the green variety of beryl, making it a cousin to aquamarine and morganite. This piece has one main merald with what looks like a second one growing underneath it towards the rock. It is on a layer of calcite on top of a thick host rock with some more calcite crystals on the back. The main emerald has exceptional clarity on the top part and has a vibrant green color all the way through.
This specimen measures ~6cm long x 4.5cm wide x 4.3cm tall. The emerald measures ~2.1cm in length.
