This is a Vanadinite Thumbnail from the Mibladen Mining District, a pert of Midelt Province in Draa-Tifalet, Morocco. Vanadinite is a phosphate mineral with trace amounts of lead and vanadium (hence the name!). It will form red hexagonal crystals and is a member of the apatite family. This piece features a ton of "bursting" hexagons from the contact point. It almost looks like a flame or fireball being cast out of a dragon's mouth. It has a lovely color gradient with the lighter yellow/orange near the base and growing into a deep red at the top of the crystal. Really intricate formation!
