Jasper is a micro-crystalline Quartz variety (silicon dioxide) w/hardness of 6.5-7 & hexagonal (trigonal) crystal system. Structure consists of sugar-like grains compared to fibrous layers of close-relative Chalcedony. These have a very striking red color and slight quartz brecciation.
