Lapis Lazuli is a dark blue sodium aluminum silicate mineral with sulfur, chlorine, and hydroxyl with pyrite and/or calcite inclusions. It has a isometric crystal system & hardness of 5-6. Lapis also used to be used as a blue pigment known as "ultramarine blue" and has been used in paints and dyes for centuries. Lapis primarily comes from Afghanistan but can be found in Chile and a few other small deposits.
