This is an Emerald thumbnail from Vangaindrano, Madagascar. Emerald is the green variety of beryl that gets its green color from Chromium inclusions. Other notable members of the beryl family include aquamarine and morganite. This is a fairly large single emerald crystal that is still in its original shape. It has a beautiful termination on the top and a nice light-mid color all the way through the stone. It has interesting etchings on the sides of the crystal.
