'Celestite' derives from the Latin word for "heavenly", representative of its blue hue that resembles the sky- or the heavens.

This crystal forms in sedimentary environments, primarily through a process called evaporite deposition where water evaporates, leaving behind minerals like strontium sulfate, therefore forming the geode.

Celestite is associated with connecting to the divine, especially the angelic realm, promoting peace and tranquility, and fostering spiritual growth.
