This is a Bornite specimen on Pyrite from Milpillas Mine, Sonora, Mexico. Bornite is commonly referred to as peacock ore or peacock stone and will frequently form with chalcopyrite. The blue and purple colors for which it gets its name come from the stone reacting to the oxygen in the air. This particular piece is nice in that it has an actual crystal structure and has not oxidized yet.
This piece measures approximately 2.2cm x2.0cm x 1.7cm. It comes in the acrylic box it is pictured in, measuring 3.5cm x 3.5cm x 2.5cm
