This is a thumbnail specimen of a terminated amethyst from Ambatondrazaka, Toamasina Province, Madagascar. This specimen has minor damage to the termination, but features a beautiful translucent purple coloration. Amethyst is a form of quartz that gets its color from naturally irradiated iron ions, and has been a valued gem for decoration and collection since prehistoric times. This would be perfect for wire wrapping, or to add to a mineral collection!
This specimen is approximately 12mm x 11mm x 8mm. You will also receive a complementary 'perky' display box and a card with the mineral name and the locale where it was mined.
