This is a Grossular Garnet specimen from Piedra Parada in Tatatila, Veracruz, Mexico. There are many different types of Garnets and Grossular makes up the biggest category. The reason behind this is that a lot of the other types of Garnet are also Grossular, but have narrower defining characteristics. This piece is a little more yellow in appearance, meaning it has some Andradite Garnet in it, but not enough for it to be fully considered Andradite.
This piece measures approximately 4.4cm x 3.4cm x 4.4cm. It comes with a display card listing the mineral name and locale.
