This is a fossilized sand dollar, or Clypeasterioda species, from the D'Angers Region in France. It dates back to the Miocene age, or around 23 million years ago. A large, well-preserved sand dollar sits on a bed of limestone matrix with other, broken sand dollar pieces and small shells embedded around it. The fossil has fantastic detail, with well-defined 'petals', or ambulacra, on the surface.

This fossil is approximately 12cm x 9cm x 3cm, with the dollar sitting at 7.2cm wide.
