This is a Carnelian votive, also known as a candle holder. Carnelian is the red/orange variety of agate and this particular piece has very nice color play. There are spots and sections of deep red with bright oranges and yellows. There is a glass insert that rests inside to catch any dripping wax and protect the stone from the candle.
