This is an azurite thumbnail specimen from La Sal, Utah. Known as a 'concretion', this type of azurite grows in round nodules and can have green malachite 'stains', as can be seen in various places on this specimen. Azurite is a secondary copper mineral that can occur in distinct crystalline forms, druzy coatings, and concretions such as this one. Azurite concretions are also known as 'azurite blueberries'.
