Anatase Thumbnail Specimen from Cuiaba District, Minas Gerais, Brazil

This is a thumbnail specimen of an anatase crystal from the Cuiaba District, Gouveia, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Anatase is a composed of titanium dioxide, which is a polymorph of rutile and brookite. It is usually found in a dark black form, but purer forms are lighter in color. It is much rarer for TiO2 to crystallize into anatase rather than the more common rutile, but both are important sources of the element titanium.

This crystal is approximately 1.5cm tall x .5 cm wide. You will receive a free 'perky' display box and a label featuring the mineral name and the locale where it was mined.
