Brandberg Amethyst Thumbnail Specimen from Brandberg, Namibia

This is a thumbnail specimen of a terminated amethyst from Brandberg, Namibia. This region is known for high-quality specimens, and this is a miniature version of the beautiful crystals that come from this locale. The terminated tip has a translucent light purple coloration that changes to a clear quartz on the body of the crystal. Amethyst is a form of quartz that gets its color from naturally irradiated iron ions, and has been a valued gem for decoration and collection since prehistoric times. This specimen would be perfect for wire wrapping, or as an addition to a thumbnail collection!

This specimen is approximately 23mm x 7mm x 8mm. You will also receive a complimentary 'perky' display box and a label card with the mineral name and the locale where it was mined.
