This is a fossilized top of a brown bear skull, scientifically named Ursus arctos, unearthed in Romania. This specimen dates to the Pleistocene epoch, somewhere between 2.6 million and 11,700 years ago. Due to the smaller size of this fossil compared to other found Ursus arctos skulls, it would appear to have lived in the later parts of the Pleistocene as brown bears grew smaller in size due to dramatic changes in climate. It still has its canine teeth, which is uncommon in fossils like this. This would be a fantastic specimen to add to any collection!
This specimen is approximately 8.25" x 4.75" x 3". You will also receive a display card with the species name, scientific name, the age it lived, and the locale where it was found.
