This is a piece of Libyan Desert Glass from the Eastern Great Sand Sea of Egypt and Libya. This mineral is one of the most unique tektites in the world - it is a silica-rich natural glass that is commonly thought to originate from a comet burst or meteor that super-heated the surrounding sand into this tektite around 28 million years ago. The scarab on Tutankhamun's breast plate was made of Libyan Desert Glass - this mineral has a rich history!

This specimen is approximately 2cm x 1.5cm x .75cm and weighs approximately 2.5 grams.
