This is a fossilized Megalodon tooth, latin name Carcharodon megalodon, from Cooper River near Charleston, South Carolina, USA. These sharks were the largest shark species to ever exist, and dominated the ocean for more than 15 million years. They could grow to over 50 feet long! This is a high quality tooth with the original inner enamel still intact.
