This is a cabinet-sized specimen of globular smithsonite from Choix, Mun. de Choix, Sinaloa, Mexico. Smithsonite is a zinc-carbonate mineral, and the variation in color is caused by the zinc being partially replaced by other elements, such as cobalt or copper. This specimen has a subtle blue to pink color variation and is two-sided with a matrix sandwiched between the two sides. It has a luster that fluctuates from matte to shiny in certain areas.

This specimen is approximately 8cm x 5cm x 3.5cm. You will also receive a label card with the mineral name and the locale where it was mined.
