This is an Amethyst specimen from Bolivia with some Smoky Quartz Phantoms. Amethyst and Smoky Quartz both get their color from irradiation in the soil around them. Amethyst gets its purple color from iron and Smoky Quartz gets it from aluminum. Since they are both different types of quartz, you can find them growing together like this every so often.
